This is to announce the Berlin Buzzwords 2010 scalability conference scheduled for June 7th/8th 2010. It will take place in Berlin. Topics of interest include NoSQL databases, scalable data analysis for instance with Apache Hadoop, open search solutions built on top of e.g. Lucene and others.
Our goal is to bring developers and users together in central Europe for a conference featuring talks on scaling data analysis. Topics will be mainly technical focussing on developers as the audience: We welcome talks on new developments in open source projects in the domain of search, data analysis and data storage. We are also interested in presentations on projects that successfully integrated open source software to scale applications.
The team organizing this event is deeply rooted in the Hadoop, Lucene, and CouchDB communities:
newthinking communications offers customised solutions for its clients. The team comprises members of five nationalities, 22 languages (includes 16 programming languages). The team members are computer scientists, political scientists, linguists, journalists, IT- and media business people. Together they are creating concepts,
contents and technical solutions. Newthinking employees are engaged in free and open projects during the spare time as well: Netzpolitik, Freifunk, Creative Commons and several open source projects are a few initiatives that benefit from input from newthinking people.
Jan Lehnardt is CouchDB's chief evangelist and a director of CouchDB Ltd. where he consults for major industry players. Jan has spoken about CouchDB at conferences such as O'Reilly's OSCON and Qcon, as well as groups like the BBC's web development.
Isabel Drost is co-founder of and committer at Apache Mahout. She is orgniser of the quarterly Hadoop Get Together Berlin, and was co-organiser of the NoSQL meetup Berlin. Isabel is regular speaker on Hadoop and Mahout at various FOSS conferences.
Simon Willnauer is a committer at Apache Lucene Java, OpenRelevance and Connectors. He draws from many years of experience in architecture and development of large software systems. Currently, Simon is working as a freelancer implementing scaleable Open Source Software.
